If your questions aren't answered below, please contact Jess - our Programs Adviser - and she will be happy to help you out. Fill in a contact form, email, or call her on 07751 574914.

Do I pay full price for the Foundations and 200Hr Teacher Training Programs if I do both?

No you don't!. The Foundations Program is a 3-day program which gives you a taste of many of the modules of the 200Hr Program. If you’re not sure about whether you want to do the full 200Hr Program or you want to try us out, then we recommend you do the Foundations Program.

If you go on to book the 200Hr Program, we’ll subtract £150 from the price of your 200Hr Program, whether you're on the regular or early bird price.

If you’re already sure you want to do the 200Hr Program and want to book straight on to that, you can still attend the Foundations Program and we'll reduce the combined cost by £150!

The only condition is that you attend the programs within 6 months of each other.

Do you offer teacher training information sessions?

Yes. We regularly hold teacher training open afternoons at our studio. These are a great opportunity to meet the facilitators (and graduates), find out more about the trainings and ask any questions that you may have. You can find out dates and book your place here.

Our Foundations Program is also a great way to try us out as a school. This is a 3-day program which presents a sample of a number of the modules covered in the full 200Hr Teacher Training Program.

It is great as a standalone Program and as a precursor to the 200Hr Program. Plus, if you continue onto the 200Hr Program, we’ll take £150 off the price.

Who is yoga teacher training for?

Yoga Teacher Training is for anyone who has experienced the profound effects yoga can bring and who wants to experience more of these benefits physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

It is also for people who want to discover more about yoga and take their learning beyond asana practice.

Whether you want to teach yoga full time, part-time or if you simply want to you’re your practice and learn more abut yoga the programs are a great experience.

Do I need to be interested in teaching yoga to do a Yoga Teacher Training Program?

The 200Hr program will qualify you to be an inspiring, safe and effective teacher. However, we also have many students who enroll solely for their own personal development – particularly in the Foundations Program.

You will find that the Programs provide the space and opportunity for you to reconnect with your body and get to know yourself better. And, the tools learned during our programs will enable you to gain greater fulfillment from your yoga practice and your life.

Amongst other experiences, you will:

  • Practice meditation, pranayama and chanting
  • Learn about the history of yoga
  • Discuss yoga philosophy and how this can be applied to your life both on and off the mat
  • Improve your personal yoga practice through classes, posture workshops and Q&A sessions – which provide the opportunities for lots of 1-to-1 attention and to try new poses.

Our Hands-On Assisting Program also allows you to contribute to the class experience without teaching.

What is the typical age range of the participants?

Students are mostly 25-45, but range from 20-55, and are both male and female.

How many participants are in each Program?

We currently limit our programs to a volume which allows lots of opportunity for individual coaching and also for close bonds to be built within the group.

Do you offer different formats for the programs?

Our Assisting and Foundations Programs take place Friday – Sunday to ensure minimum disruption to your working week.

We offer several formats for the 200Hr Program, depending on how much time you can take off work. You can see these on the schedule.

We prefer a format which combines intensity with the space for you to take your learnings back into your normal daily life. This facilities a deeper level of learning and experience, as well as its application.

How proficient in yoga do I have to be to do the 200Hr program?

At Hot Power Yoga we believe yoga is for every body and we consider applications from students of all ages and abilities.

The 200Hr program does include daily vigorous asana practice. Ideally, we recommend that applicants have at least one year of consistent yoga practice and are familiar with Hot Power Yoga classes (or Vinyasa Flow).

Where you have less or different experience, we recommend you attend the Foundations Program where your suitability can be assessed. We look for a demonstration of good body awareness, understanding the basics of yoga poses, and having the ability to hear and respond to instructions.

We are also more concerned with your attitude than your ability to get into advanced postures: that you have a maturity, openness and willingness to learn. It is also important that you are able to listen to your body.

Do I need to have any other qualifications to be accepted into the 200Hr Program?

To qualify for one of our 200Hr Teacher Training Programs, you must complete an application.

We also prefer that you attend our Foundations Program first, particularly if you are not a regular student at our Hot Power Yoga studio.

This is not a prerequisite of the 200Hr training but it ensures we have the opportunity to get to know each other and for you to be sure we are the right school for you.

If you go on to book the 200Hr Program with us, we will subtract £150 off the cost of your 200Hr Program.

What if I’m applying from overseas or do not live in London. Is there anywhere I can stay?

We can provide you with a list of apartments, hotels, B&B’s or individuals that students have previously stayed with via Airbnb, so that you can choose an option that suits your budget.

Is the homework included in the 200 hours?

No. We don’t believe you should be paying us for you to study at home, so all the 200 hours are contact hours.

How much time should I expect to spend on homework?

Expect to spend between 8 to 12 hours per week on various assignments. The homework is designed to support the material covered in class and help you integrate what is presented into your own practice and teaching.

Will I be able to teach a class at the end of my 200Hr Program?

You will be technically competent to teach a class from half-way through your training, and will be given the option to start teaching in our Community Classes in the Hot Power Yoga Studio.

We also encourage you to teach at work, with your friends and family, and even your pets J so you get as much practice during your training as possible.

You will also practice teaching during the Foundations Program and from day 1 of the 200Hr Program. This is essential in building your confidence and familiarizing you with what it feels like to teach.

Every teaching experience is also a learning experience, so the more you teach, the more you will develop and grow as a teacher.

Our 12-Month Mentorship Program is also designed to support you in your first year as a yoga teacher, and provide ongoing development and coaching.

What qualification will I get?

Hot Power Yoga is a 200Hr Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance US.

On completion of the 200Hr Program and passing the assessments you will gain a certificate and letter of completion that will allow you to register as a RYT-200 level (Registered Yoga Teacher 200) with the Yoga Alliance US (

The Yoga Alliance US certification is recognized internationally, and will allow you to teach in studios, gyms, healthclubs, spas, retreats and individually around the world.

To check out our registration, follow this link and search for Hot Power Yoga in the United Kingdom.

What if I miss a session?

To obtain your letter and certificate of completion you must attend 100% of the sessions to comply with Yoga Alliance requirements.

Will I be able to teach at Hot Power Yoga?

All Hot Power Yoga Teachers are trained in house and are graduates of the 200Hr Program, and are, or have been, participants of the Mentorship Program.

Completing our 200Hr Teacher Training or Mentorship Program is no guarantee of becoming a teacher at HPY, and teachers are hired under a separate application process. Successful applicants will start on the studio substitute teacher list, where their performance and development are closely monitored.

There are opportunities for Mentees to continue to teach in the Community Classes until the next 200Hr Program takes place – when the teaching slots are filled by teachers in training.

We also hold Hot Power Yoga TM classes at Fitness First in Central London and partnering studios, which present a further teaching opportunity for successful graduates.

Our graduates are renowned for their quality and many of London’s leading studios employ them, including Tri Yoga, The House of Yoga, Breeze, Red Hot Yoga and The Power Yoga Company.

Are books included in the training?

After you have paid in full you will be given a reading list specific to your Program. These are not included in the Program fee, and can be bought online.

There is an essential reading list and a recommended list.
